James "Jimmy" Sharpe

James “Jimmy” Sharpe 72, an inquisitive man with a sharp mind until the end.  Jimmy was a very caring family man, always concerned for others.  He loved hosting family and friend events.  Jimmy also had a passion for attending or watching football games.  He loved college tailgating and listening to a variety of music.   James was born to the late Leon and Viola (Sharpe) McRae on October 26, 1944 of Wilson, NC.  He graduated from Darden High School.  James served his country in the U.S. Marines & the Vietnam War.  After returning home he attended Shaw University in Raleigh, NC graduating in 1972 with a degree in Business Administration.  He was initiated into the Winston Salem graduate chapter of Kappa Alpha PSI Fraternity, Inc.  He was the owner of Triangle Dodge and several other businesses throughout the city until his health declined.   James is survived by his loving wife Viola Ramsey Sharpe of the home for 47 years and daughter Jamese Sharpe of Charlotte, NC.  His siblings who will cherish loving memories are his brothers, Marcille Sharpe (Gloria), Earl Speight and one sister Vernell Smith; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.   A memorial service will be conducted at 1pm Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Union Baptist Church, 1200 N. Trade St., Winston-Salem.  The family will receive friends at 12 noon.   In lieu of flowers, memories may be made to James Sharpe Memorial Fund c/o Emmanuel Baptist Church.  The family may be reached at 496 Willow Ridge Lane, Winston-Salem, NC  27127.     Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
