Mr. James Erastus Sowers, 89, of Holloways Church Rd., Lexington died Monday, May 19, 2014 in Hinkle Hospice House.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Holloways Baptist Church with Revs. Dana Slack and Rev. Craig Barnhill officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Church Cemetery.
The family will see friends at Holloways Baptist Church from 12:30 to 1:30 PM Thursday prior to the service and other times will be at the residence.
Mr. Sowers was born December 8, 1924 in Davidson County to Henry Sowers and Elizabeth Latham Sowers. He was a retired foreman with the North Carolina Dept. of Transportation where he worked for 19 years. His hobbies were woodworking and gardening. James was a World War II Veteran of the US Army. He was preceded in death by brothers, Willie Sowers,
Joe Sowers, Henry Clay Sowers and Odell Sowers and a sister, Bessie Loflin.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Becky Hedrick Sowers of the home; and nieces and nephews.
