James Thomas “Tommy” Staton, 72, of East Center Street Extension, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2010, at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel, with the Revs. Avery C. Varnadore and Dan Walser officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2010, at the funeral home.
Mr. Staton was born September 27, 1937, in Davidson County, to James P. Staton and Bonnie Blackburn Staton. He served in the U.S. Army, Army National Guard, and the North Carolina National Guard. He attended Lighthouse Baptist Church in Welcome, and was retired from Tom’s Recapping. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking in his spare time.
Surviving are his wife, Stella Jo Treadway Staton of the home; son, Keith Staton and wife, Lynn, of Lexington; daughter, Lisa Williams and husband, John, of Raleigh; grandchildren, Matthew Williams and Casey Staton; and sisters, Alene Friedman, Helen Wilson, both of Greensboro, and Debbie Sink of Lexington.
