James “Rex” Stone Sr., 63, of Carl Pressley Road, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Centerclair Nursing Home, following six months of declining health.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2011, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Gary Gibson officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mr. Stone was born December 8, 1947, in Wilkes County, to Paul Jessie Stone and Ethel Mae Parker Stone. He was a former self employed Logger and framed houses for Tommy Jarvis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sons, James Keith Stone and Jason Fellmont Stone; granddaughter, Amanda Nicole Stone; and brother, Robert Stone.
Surviving are his wife, Vickie Pressley Stone of the home; sons, Tim Stone and wife, Anita, of Lexington and James “Rex” Stone Jr. and wife, Wendy, of Southmont; grandchildren, Timothy Wayne Stone Jr., Angila Dawn Stone and Alex Stone; great-grandchildren, Laidyen Jason Stone and Jada Nevaeh Stone; brothers, J.T. Stone of Lexington, Harold Dean Stone, Eddie Stone, Curtis Stone, and Wayne Stone, all of North Wilkesboro; and sisters, Helen Roope and Elizebeth Bryant, both of North Wilkesboro.
