James Daniel Strickland

James Daniel Strickland, 62, of Dockside Drive, Southmont, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at his home. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Rev. Clyde Akers. Burial will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Strickland was born July 11, 1943, in Columbus County to Herman Strickland and Lucy Blackwell Strickland. He was retired from Leggett and Platt and was of Baptist faith. His parents preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Ula Mae Varner Strickland of the home; one daughter, Terry Strickland Jordan and her fiance, Lonnie Grooms, of Lexington; one grandson, Jeremy Dalton Jordon of Lexington; two brothers, Eugene Strickland of South Carolina and Sammy Strickland of Bladenboro; two half brothers, Robert Penney of Whiteville and James Penney Jr. of Cerro Gordo; and one sister, Rosie Cooper of Fairbluff. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the home of his daughter at 684 Hunt Road.
