James Walter Swing, 81, of Kenwood Lane, died Monday, April 29, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House after declining health.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Becks Lutheran Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Angela Jackson and Pastor David Huddle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service Thursday in the church parlor and other times at the home of his daughter on Conrad Hill Mine Road.
Mr. Swing was born December 12, 1931, in Davidson County to James Franklin Swing and Sadie Foushee Swing. He was retired from Lexington Furniture Industries after 44 years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Dorsett Swing, who died December 5, 1997; sisters, Lala Hinshaw, Betty Jane Swing, and Donna Mann; and half sisters, Grace Fritts and Ersie Everhart.
Surviving are son, James Michael Swing of Lexington; daughter, Brenda Hedrick and husband Terry; special friend, Ruby Early of Lexington; sister, Barbara Jenkins of Thomasville; and his close friends whom he considered extended family, Keith Hedrick and Richard Hedrick.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Becks Lutheran Church Building Fund or Improvement Fund, 441 Beck’s Church Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
