James Cleveland Taylor Jr., 100, of Davidson County, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 24, 1925, in Durham County, North Carolina, James was the son of the late James Cleveland Taylor and Ethel Davis Taylor. A proud veteran, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. James was a devoted family man whose strength, kindness, and steady presence touched all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Byerly Taylor, and his sister, Dorothy Ruder.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Vee “Susie” Love (Gary), Eric Taylor (Linda), and Randall Taylor (Teri); his cherished six grandchildren; his adored thirteen great-grandchildren; one precious great-great-grandchild; and a special nephew, Jim Ruder. His family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in each of them.

A graveside service to honor James’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Holly Hill Memorial Park beginning at 10:00 a.m, with Pastor Alex Nance officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations may be made to New Friendship United Church of Christ, 307 Turner Road, Lexington, NC 27292.

James will be remembered for his faithful service, his love for his family, and the lasting legacy of warmth and devotion he leaves behind.
