James "J.C." Cleveland Taylor Jr., 100, of Davidson County, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 24, 1925, in Durham County, North Carolina, J.C. was the son of the late James Cleveland Taylor and Ethel Davis Taylor. A proud veteran, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. J.C. was a devoted family man whose strength, kindness, and steady presence touched all who knew him. J.C. retired from Smith Millworks and Carp City, where he was affectionately known to many of his coworkers by the nickname “Fish Pond.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Byerly Taylor, his sister, Dorothy Ruder, and four precious great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Vee “Susie” Love (Gary), Eric Taylor (Linda), and Randall Taylor (Teri); his cherished six grandchildren; his adored eighteen great-grandchildren; three precious great-great-grandchildren; and a special nephew, Jim Ruder. His family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in each of them.

A graveside service to honor J.C.’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Holly Hill Memorial Park, 401 W. Holly Hill Rd. Thomasville, NC 27360, beginning at 10:00 a.m, with Pastor Alex Nance officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations may be made to New Friendship United Church of Christ, 307 Turner Road, Lexington, NC 27292.

J.C. will be remembered for his faithful service, his love for his family, and the lasting legacy of warmth and devotion he leaves behind.
