James “Sam” Thomasson, age 53 of Bethesda Road, Lexington passed away Thursday afternoon at Forsyth Medical Center. A memorial service to honor his life will be held
at 6:00 pm Saturday (April 17, 2010) at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Derek Boggs officiating.
The family will greet friends following the service, in the Family Life Center Fellowship Hall.
Sam as he was known was born in Iredell County July 20, 1956 to Luther Quentin Thomasson and Jean Parker Thomasson who survive of Hamptonville. He was the Director of Product Development with Lorillard Tobacco Company in Greensboro and his prior employment was Vice President of Product Development with R J Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston Salem. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, served as chairman of church council and stewardship committee, youth advisor and a member of the church choir.
Surviving Sam are his wife, Holli Carter Thomasson of the home, two daughters, Samantha Michael Thomasson of Chapel Hill and Margaret Leora Thomasson of the home; one son Andy Thomasson and wife Andra of Boston, MA; two sisters, Carol O’Neil and husband John of Louisville, KY and Linda Gail Lauroussini of Atlanta, GA; and one brother, Steve Thomasson and wife Susie of Hamptonville.
