James Robert Walters, age 78, of Clemmons passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center.
A funeral service will be at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with Rev. Karen Roberts. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 pm at the church prior to the service.
James was born February 12, 1934 in Surry County to Luther Walters and Myrtle McCann Walters. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. He was a retired employee of First National Bank after 19 years of service and also of Commercial Farmers Bank as Vice President for eight years. He served in the United States Army and also volunteered with numerous organizations including: Consumer Credit Counseling, Winston Salem Junior Achievement, Boy Scouts of America, Lions Club, Arcadia Senior Citizens, Methodist Men, March of Dimes and Forsyth Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years Lois Wall Walters, his sons: Robert Walters (Dana ) and Jeff Walters ( Tina ) all of Lexington, his daughters: Beth Kight (Toney) of Clemmons and Judy Strickland ( Ed )of Douglasville, GA, his brother: Corbit Walters of Elkin, NC, his grandchildren: Benjamin Strickland (Michelle), Erin Strickland, Sloan & Sawyer Walters, Ali Carter (David), Jonathan Kight (Jessica), Stephen Kight (Symantha), his great grandchildren: Jonathon , Lauren, Claudia, Sam; his great great grandson: Braxton.
