James Thomas Westbrook, 86, formerly of Lexington and most recently from Greeneville, TN, died Friday at Hospice of the Piedmont in High Point.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, October 1, at Lexington City Cemetery conducted by Rev. Glenn Gray.
Mr. Westbrook was born September 2, 1921 in Southampton, VA to Thomas Hill Westbrook and Eva Brown Westbrook. He retired from PPG Industries and was a veteran of the US Army, having served in World War II. He was of the Baptist faith and preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Westbrook, his second wife, Naomi Westbrook, and two sons, Joe Mathes and Robert Mathes.
He is survived by two sons: Charles Jeffers and wife, Revoda, of Lexington; Chester Mathes, of Greeneville, TN; a sister in law, Ardella Everhart of Lexington; two grandchildren; B.J. Mathes and Christy Waldrop and a third grandchild that he raised and loved dearly, Robert (Dufus) Mathes, three great grandchildren all of Greenville, TN.
There will be no public visitation.
