James Franklin Wilson

November 22, 1932 — September 30, 2011

James Franklin Wilson, 78 of Der San Dr., Lexington died Friday September 30, 2011 at 6:30 PM in Hinkle Hospice Home.  A funeral service will be Wednesday October 5, 2011 at 10: 00 AM at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Dave Williams and Gary Foster officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.   The family will received family and friends Tuesday 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington and at other times at the home.   Mr. Wilson was born in Rowan County on November 22, 1932 to Thomas Payne Wilson and Della Mae Williams Wilson.  He retired as manager of the A & P Grocery store and also retired from Kimberly Clark as Security Guard.  He served his community in many ways, including helping start the Food Pantry for the West Davidson area, worked with the Salvation Army’s Bell Ringing program,  volunteered at the Crisis Ministry Homeless Shelter and received the Governor’s Award for Volunteerism and also gave over 100 pints of blood to the Red Cross.   He was a member of Reeds Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Christopher Lee Cooper, brothers, Thomas A. Wilson, Woodrow C. Wilson and sisters, Ada Koontz, Lelia Swaringen and Inez Alexander.   Surviving are his wife Gleta Monteith Wilson of the home, sons David Wilson, Randy Wilson and John Cook and wife Polly all of Lexington, daughters, Susan Wood and husband Doug of Martinsville, VA and Glenda Johnson and husband Rick of Lexington, 8 grandchildren John Paul Cook and Kelly, Summer Allen Canovai and Lance, Cassandra Lynn Wilson, David Michael Wilson, Matthew Joseph Catlin, Debra Ann Wood and Michelle Wood, 3 great grandchildren, brothers Carl Wilson of Spencer and William Lee Wilson of Greensboro, sister Ann Flutii of San Antonia, TX.   Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or to West Davidson Food Pantry West Old Hwy 64, Lexington, NC 27295 or Salvation Army 314 W. 9th Avenue, Lexington, NC 27292     Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
