James Thomas "Tommy" Wilson

Reverend James Thomas (Tommy) Wilson, 68, of Lexington, NC died January 3, 2026, following his courageous journey with Glioblastoma.

Tommy was born February 21, 1957, to Paul and Frances Wilson of Red Springs, NC. He attended Red Spring public schools and graduated from Wingate University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary,

Dedicating his life to serving God, Tommy had the privilege of serving First Baptist Church of Lexington as Associate Minister for 29 years.  Previously he served First Baptist Church of Albemarle, NC as Youth and Activities Minister and First Baptist Church of Marion, NC as summer Youth Minister.

Active in his community, Tommy was a Guardian Ad Litem volunteer and served on various boards including Habitat for Humanity, The Life Center of Davidson County and Davidson County Department of Social Services.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandra Knight Wilson, sister Betsy Wilson (Kern Parker), brother Paul Wilson Jr (Cheryl), brother-in-law Sammy Knight (Gina), sister-in-law Hilda Bondurant (Robert).  He is also survived by loving nieces and nephews: Travis Wilson (Heather), Wilson Parker, Sam Parker (Kara), Katie Coburn (Chad), Kaitlyn Strader (Ethan), Samuel Knight (Mallory), Todd Bondurant (Mylene), Jason Bondurant (Robyn) and Courtney Cucchiara (Billy). His 18 Grand nieces and nephews were precious to him.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday January 10 at First Baptist Church.
