James Luther Wood

James Luther Wood, 76 of East 9th Street Ext. Lexington, died Thursday June, 18, 2009 at his home after an illness of 8 months. A Memorial service will be at 3:00 PM Sunday June 21, 2009 at Community Church of Lexington where he was a member with Rev. Eric Disher officiating. Mr. Wood donated his body to science. Mr. Wood was born in Davidson County on November 30, 1932 to Charlie Lee Wood and Effie Ball Wood. He was self employed and an active member of AA where he touched many lives. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his daughters, Lynn Grainger of Lexington and Kathy Sue Grubb and husband Junior of Hampstead, NC ; stepson James F Stanley of Lexington and stepdaughter Gloria Fulk of Lexington; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and brother Jerry Bryce Wood of Hilltop Nursing Home. The family will receive friends Saturday at the home on 313C East 9th Street Ext. Lexington.
