Jane Elmore

October 25, 1935 — November 15, 2022

Elizabeth Jane Goforth Elmore of Reeds went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, following a brief illness.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Shiloh United Methodist Church on Highway 150 with the Rev. Ryan Mendenhall officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Church Columbarium.

The family will receive friends from 10 am until 11 am prior to the service in the Family Life Center.

Jane was born October 25, 1935, to Charles and Mary Schenck Goforth of Kings Mountain, NC. She was a graduate of Bethware High School and Appalachian State Teacher’s College, where she earned a Master’s degree and Educational Specialist degree.

Jane taught in Burke County, Gaston County, Gaston City Schools, and in Davidson County. She retired in 1998 from the position of Director of Secondary Education for Davidson County Schools. Jane was also an active member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and church historian.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Douglas Elmore, Sr.; her son, Mark Goforth Elmore; a sister, Linda Stroupe; and a grandson, Stephen Chauncey.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Charles Elmore (Kathy); two daughters, Gini Chauncey, and Molly Green (Michael), her daughter-in-law, Mimi Elmore, all of Lexington; five grandchildren, Kenneth Elmore (Ryne), Kristin Elmore (Melissa), Blake Elmore, Hannah Green, and Sarah Green; three great-grandsons, Luke Douglas Elmore, Asher Brady Elmore, and Isaac Henry Elmore; her sister, Helen Hauser of Raleigh; and her brothers, Ed and Paul Goforth of Kings Mountain.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice or to Shiloh UMC’s Family Life Center at 943 N. NC Hwy 150, Lexington, NC 27295.
