Jane Hanes

Gloria Jane Marshall Hanes, age 60 of N. NC Hwy 150, Lexington died Friday in Lexington Memorial Hospital after a serious illness of four months. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Friendship United Methodist Church with Rev Carroll Lupton and Rev. Keith Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Hanes was born September 9, 1947 in Guilford County to Russell Hollis Marshall and Iris Murphy Marshall. She was a graduate of Ledford High School, Appalachian State University and a retired teacher at Pilot School, Thomasville, and later a substitute teacher for a total of 32 years. A member of Friendship United Methodist Church, she was a member of the United Methodist Women, Helping Hands Sunday school class, and a member of the Kitchen Gang. She was also an assistant Blood Drive coordinator and active in Relay for Life in Thomasville. Her parents preceded her in death. Surviving are her loving husband, Charles Hanes of the home; a son Nicholas Hanes of the home; sisters Martha (Dusty) Marshall Parnell and husband Dennis of Thomasville, Terri Marshall of Gastonia, and also a number of Nieces and Nephews. The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Saturday, March 8, 2008 at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, INC. and other times at the home. Memorials may be directed to Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 2840 Friendship Church Rd., Lexington, NC 27295 or Relay for Life of Davidson County, The Beck Woodworking and Hanes Farm Team, 4-A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407.
