Jane Blalock Morton
September 15, 1939 – October 14, 2025
Jane Blalock Morton, lovingly known as “Susie,” passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on September 15, 1939, in Badin, NC, she was the daughter of the late William Franklin Blalock, Sr., and Ruth Almond Blalock. Susie was formerly of Bethesda Road in Lexington, NC.
Susie grew up in Badin and graduated from Badin High School where her warmth and charm earned her the superlative title of “Cutest” by her classmates – a fitting reflection of her kind and joyful spirit.
On August 15, 1959, Susie married the love of her life, Franklin Monroe “Frank” Morton. Together they built a warm and loving home in Lexington, raising three children.
In her early years, Susie devoted herself to being a full-time mother and homemaker. She was active in her children’s lives, including such roles as being a cub scout den mother. As her children grew older, she returned to the workforce as a talented seamstress at J.F. Ward clothing boutique, and later at Pickett and Green, a fine men’s clothier in Lexington.
Susie’s greatest joys in life were her family, her faith, and her passion in life’s simple pleasures: sewing, cooking, reading, walking, and nurturing plants with her green thumb. Later in life she stayed active and participated in programs at the Davidson County Senior Center. Above all, she treasured time with her family. A woman of quiet strength and deep faith she was a longtime member of North Lexington Baptist Church, where she and Frank found spiritual nourishment, community, and lasting friendships throughout their lives. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the family she deeply cherished.
Susie is survived by her three children: Lane Morton (Fran) of Lexington, Jan Morton (John Gibbs) of Lexington, Sherry Morton Pelech (Ted) of Clemmons, her grandchildren: Andrew Everhart (Samantha) of Mooresville, Carmen Everhart Raborn (Matthew) of Cary, Tyler Morton (Alexandra) of Charlotte, Ryan Morton of Lexington, and Arron Woodall of Clemmons; and her great-grandchildren: Jackson Everhart, Brooks Everhart, and Charlotte Morton. She is also survived by her siblings: Shirley Efird and William F. “Bill” Blalock, Jr., both of Albemarle.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank; her parents; and her sister, Elaine Gill of Badin.
Susie will be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, and steadfast faith. Her legacy of love, grace, and quiet strength will live on in all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025, at North Lexington Baptist Church, 201 Mize Road, Lexington, NC. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Lexington Baptist Church, 201 Mize Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
