Janee Holder Woodson

Janee Holder Woodson, age 73, of Thomasville, North Carolina passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 16, 2023. She was born May 12, 1948, in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, daughter of Ola Dobson Holder and Samuel Chester Holder. Jan was a graduate of North Surry High School and Mt. Airy Beauty College.

A celebration of her life will be held at Piedmont Crossing on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 11:00 am. The graveside service will be held in the following days as a private family service at the National Cemetery in Salisbury.

Jan Loved the outdoors and gardening which she learned from her mother early in life. She also was well known for her beautiful smile and servant’s heart. When she wasn’t working in her beauty shop, which she did for nearly 50 years, she was always doing for others, Jan was a true friend to everyone she knew.

Jan was married in 1973 to Charles Stewart Woodson of Charlottesville, Virginia and were married for 50 years. In 2003 Jan and her husband built their dream home at Lake Gaston, Virginia where they lived before moving to Thomasville in 2018.

Survivors include her husband Charles Stewart Woodson, Children, Amy May husband Rev. Dr. Cleve May of Durham, North Carolina, Shelly Wilson husband Dr. Ben Wilson of Lexington, North Carolina, grandchildren: Cayden May, John May, McKenna May and Ellison May of Durham, North Carolina, and Abigail Wilson, Evan Wilson, and Luke Wilson of Lexington, North Carolina. Jan was preceded in death by her brother Sammy Holder and sister Cathy Dehart both of Mt. Airy, North Carolina.

Hospice has been a major part of Jan’s life as both a long-time volunteer in Virginia and as a patient in North Carolina. The family requests that any memorial gifts be given to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, North Carolina.
