A service to honor Janet’s life will be held at 3 pm on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with Pastor Frankie Matthews officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation from 2 pm to 3 pm, just before the service. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Reformed Church Cemetery.
Janet was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother, known for her warmth, generosity, and joy in life’s simple pleasures. Born on February 18, 1959, to Paul and Carol Everhart, Janet grew up with a deep love for her family and her community. Janet found joy in her work as a former branch manager at First Union in Lexington and later as co-owner of "Another Closet Consignment Boutique," where she enjoyed spending time with her sister and connecting with others in the community. She had a big heart, especially for animals, and was a friend to many dogs and cats throughout her life. Most of all, she adored her family, treasuring the moments spent with her beloved grandchildren. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Benny Ray Coleman, and her parents, Paul and Carol Everhart.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jessica Poteat (Steven); her brother, Alan Everhart; her sister, Eve Sink (Marty); and her two cherished grandchildren, Wyatt and Brock Poteat.
Though not required, Janet’s family invites everyone to wear her favorite color, purple, in celebration of her life.
