Janet Beck Wise

Janet Beck Wise, 74, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Brookstone Terrace, in Thomasville.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2026, at Davidson Funeral Chapel, Lexington. Interment will follow in Forest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Janet was born on December 3, 1951, in Davidson County, to the late Hoy Smith Beck Sr, and Sylvia Jacqueline Smith Beck.

She was a faithful member of Trinity Methodist Church and shared her love of music by playing both the piano and organ. She also generously used her musical talents to play for New Jerusalem Lutheran Church. Outside of church, Janet found joy in creating, especially through crafts, sewing, crocheting, and cross-stitching. She had a special love for the mountains and cherished the peace and beauty they offered. Janet dedicated her career to helping others as a social worker with the Department of Corrections, where she touched the lives of many through her compassion and service. After retiring from the state, she worked at the Thomasville Public Library.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Benjamin Hardie Wise.

Left to cherish her memory are her brother and sister, Hoy Beck Jr (Debbie), and Phyllis Leonard; two grandchildren, Lillian Wise and Emery Wise; a niece, Leslie Norris; and two nephews, Randall Leonard and Nathan Beck.
