Janice Denton Yontz, 74, of Winston Salem, passed away Monday, August 29, 2022, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice.
A funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, September 2, 2022, at Canaan United Methodist Church with Pastor Jay Bowers and Pastor Rodney Denton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel.
Ms. Yontz was born September 29, 1947, to Wadus Franklin Denton and Kathleen Hanes Denton. She was a member of Canaan United Methodist Church. Janice enjoyed crafting, especially painting and ceramics. She also loved spending time with her friends and family, and most important of all, was her grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Denton.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Anita Norman (Jeff) of Lexington; She was a loving “MeMe” to her three grandchildren, Layne Bias (Nick) of Lexington, Michael Norman (Paige Stewart) of Winston Salem, and Rhett Norman of Lexington; one brother, Bobby Denton (Brenda) of Alabama; one sister, Jean Simmons of South Carolina; one sister in-law, Gayle Denton of Winston Salem; two aunts, Jeanette Peace (Franklin) of Kernersville and Janet Dunaway of South Carolina; and one beloved fur baby, Dixie. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and special friends.
