Janie Sharpe Swink, 102, of Cloverdale Road, Lexington passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at Lexington Health Care.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Forest Hill Memorial Park with the Rev.Danny Leonard officiating. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends at Davidson funeral Home from 6 until 8 pm Wednesday, July 20, and at other times at the home.
Janie was born in Davidson County, March 13, 1914, to Samuel Alexander Sharpe and Mary Jane “Molly” Penninger Sharpe. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a seamstress, working for Boots Shop and worked also in Day Care and the Green Door Café. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Arthur Swink; daughter and son-in-law, Mildred Ann and Dale Campbell; daughter-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" Swink; sons-in-law, Joe Goss and Darrell Jacobs; sisters, Sadie Correll, Florence Smith and Mary Bell Smith; brothers, Caleb A Sharpe, Henry Banks Sharpe and Samuel Alexander Sharpe, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Inez Sharpe, Missouri Sharpe and Lucy Sharpe; and brothers-in-law, Talton Correll, Forrest Smith, Jack Smith, and Tommy Michael
Surviving are daughters, Nancy Jayne Goss of Southmont, Doris Marie Jacobs of Lexington and Evelyn Pauline Smith (James) of Alabama; sons, Paul David Swink (Beth) of Summerfield, Thomas Wayne Swink (Wanda) of Lexington and Charles Franklin Swink (Phyllis) of Churchland; 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Michael of Lexington.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her name to a charity of the Donor’s choice.
