Jason Daniel Moore, born on December 27, 1981, passed away on July 20, 2024, in Biloxi, Mississippi. He was the cherished son of James Daniel (Danny) Moore, Jr, and Michelle Owen.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 6 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Mark Rachels officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors by the Davidson County Honor Guard, and the US Navy.
The family will visit with friends one hour before the service from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
Jason graduated from Central Davidson High School in 2000, where he was an enthusiastic member of the football team. Following high school, Jason proudly served in the United States Navy from 2000 to 2009 as an Aviation Structural Mechanic (AM3) aboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) and part of the VFA Fighter Squadron. His service was honored with the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and a Letter of Commendation.
After the Navy, Jason continued his education at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, earning his Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics. He made significant contributions as an instructor, developing the Drone Engineering program at Pearl River Community College in Biloxi, Mississippi, and the Electrical Engineering program at the Technical College of the Lowcountry in Beaufort, South Carolina. Jason also dedicated time to volunteering at the Hancock Resource Center, helping his community in many ways.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Harold Owen, and his uncle, Matthew Moore.
Jason is survived by his beloved wife, Annie Moore, and his son, Jacob Daniel Moore, both of whom were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his father, Danny Moore; his mother, Michelle Owen Winn, and her husband, Glenn Winn, all of Lexington, NC. Additionally, he leaves behind his sister, Heather Haywood, of Myrtle Beach, SC, his brothers, Christopher Moore and his wife, Ashlyn Moore, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Joshua Moore of Lexington. His nephews, Weston and Easton Moore of Lexington, and Taje Holmes of Myrtle Beach, SC, along with his niece, Donna Jenkins, of Myrtle Beach, SC, will also dearly miss him.
Jason’s grandparents, James Daniel (Pete) Moore and Martha Hedrick Moore, loved him as a son. He lived with them until he joined the Navy in 2000, creating many cherished memories with his friends at their home. His aunt, Felicia Moore Sherman, and her husband, Nelson Sherman, along with his cousins, Jack Sherman and his wife, Lauren, and their son, Rush, Matthew Moore, Grace Moore Jonasson and her husband, Koby Jonasson, will remember him fondly.
Jason will also be missed by Annie’s parents, Craig and Cassandra Simmons, as well as Annie’s sister, Alexandria Simmons, and his service dog Mustachio.
As we remember and celebrate the life of Jason, let us keep his spirit alive in our hearts.
