Jay Frederick Green

Jay Frederick Green, 73, of Holloways Church Road, died Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Hinkle Hospice House. A celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Langley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service and other times at the home. Mr. Green was born September 1, 1942, in Middletown, NY, to Marion Frederick Green and Eleanor Meder Green. He was a retired police officer from Glen Rock New Jersey. Mr. Green had served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Jay was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was proficient in horticulture. He played golf for many years and at one point shot in the 70’s. After retiring from the police department he continued to work where his interest took him. Jay ran Springmaid fishing pier in Myrtle Beach for four years. Jay was the golf course ranger for one of the oldest golf courses in Pennsylvania for several years at Cliff Park Inn. His joy and wit of people and people watching made him always observant and fun in sharing stories. Surviving are his loving wife, Jacqueline Darr Green of the home; son, Brett Green and wife Deva of Fort Mill, SC; daughter, Tracey Hite and husband Ryan of Fuquay Varina; grandson, Brayden Hite; and sisters, Katherine Stephens of Florida and Patricia Jalal of New Jersey. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC, 27292.
