Jay Harries Ross, 66, a resident of Lexington, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022. Jay was born on March 23, 1956 to Jay C and Margaret Atwell Ross. He worked for Baptist Medical Center in Maintenance for many years, then went on to retire from Old Vineyard Behavior & Health. He also taught classes at Davidson County Community College and was a Mason. Jay was very active with the Mason’s Lodge, volunteering his time by raising funds for the Shriner’s Hospital for several years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed building and working on his various projects, traveling to the Outer Banks, and fishing with his fishing team. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Jimmy Ross.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 4, 2022 at 6:00 PM in Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 5:00 PM at the funeral home and other times at the home of his daughter, 3377 Summerville Church Road, Denton, NC 27239.
Left to cherish Jay’s memory are his loving wife, Marva Lilly Ross of the home; his parents, Basil and Margaret Havrischak; daughters, Shanna Fritts (Justin) of Denton and Vhonna Hill (Adam) of Elizabeth City, NC; grandchildren, Jackson, Easton, Renlee, Rachel, Emily, Natalie, and Adam, Jr.; a brother, Jeffrey Ross of China Grove; mother-in-law, Violet “Kathaleen” Culler; sister-in-law, Cathy Culler, brother-in-law, Don Lilly; and fur-baby, Saltwater.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Jay’s fishing team for all the years of fond memories and friendship.
