James Bert (J B) McCrary 89 passed away early Monday morning, June 10, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM, Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Midway United Methodist Church with the Rev. John C. Woods, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel.
J B was born in Davidson County on May 19, 1924 to Cyrus Cicero McCrary and Selma Wagner McCrary. He was a self-employed brick mason and served in the US Army during WWII. He attended Midway School and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Midway United Methodist Church. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Billy Joe and Charles Leo McCrary, a sister, Lucille McCrary.
Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Zelma Mock McCrary, sons, Benny McCrary and wife Barbara, Greg McCrary and wife Billie all of Lexington; daughters, Judy Outen and husband Joe of Rainbow, TX, Shirley Darr and husband Chuck of Lexington, Donna Weisner and husband Jerry of Lexington, Tammy Bridges and husband Albie of Welcome; a brother, Claude McCrary of Lexington; sister, Jewell McDade of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Chris Outen (Shannon), Cari Frank (Eric), Mark Darr (Charla), Shelly Norman, Justin Weisner (Jennifer), Cory Weisner (Kristy), Casey Weisner, Nathan Bridges and Jacob Bridges; ten great-grandchildren.
