Joseph Edwin (J. E.) Sink, age 86, of Petrea Road, Lexington passed away Wednesday morning at Lexington Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at First United Methodist Church with Revs. Jamie Armstrong and Doug Rowe officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Friday night and at other times at the home.
J. E. was born in Davidson County, December 29, 1928 to Joseph Edwin Sink, Sr. and Juanita Fritts Sink. He was a graduate of Lexington High School Class of 1947, a graduate of High Point College, Class of 1951 with a BS degree and a Master of Education from Duke University in 1963. He taught in the Davidson and Guilford County Schools for 42 years and retired in 1992. At First Methodist, he was a member of the Spruill Sunday School Class and United Methodist Men. He was also a member of Gideons International; he was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Suzanne Sink.
J. E. married the love of his life, Evelyn Smith Sink on April 21, 1951 and they were married for 63 years. In addition he is survived by his son, Joseph Edwin (Joey) Sink III and wife Sheila of Lexington; daughters, Jan Shuler and husband Gene of Mocksville, Jill Sink and husband Joe Meabon of Lexington; 7 grandchildren, Teresa Travis (Matthew), Michele Johnson, Daniel Bolz (Amanda), Nicholas Sink, Joel Shuler, Jesse and Sara Pushee; nine great-grandchildren, Elijah, Jada, Issac, Jonah and Enoch Travis, Lily and Willow Bolz, Wesley and Kady Johnson; sister, Jacqueline Clark of China Grove.
