Jean Creech Arledge

Jean Creech Arledge 81 of Midway passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Welcome at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 05, 2014 with Rev. Mark Blair officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 12:30 to 2:00 PM prior to the service and at other times at the home of her daughter, Jan Harmon in Clemmons. Jean was born in Henderson County on February 5, 1933 to John Edwood Creech and Minnie Bryan Creech. Her parents, husband Evin Denton Arledge and a sister, Edwina Blanton preceded her in death. She was a very active member as long as her health permitted of First Baptist Church of Welcome where she was a member of the Senior Friends and taught a childrens sunday school class and also sang in the choir. She and Evin helped start Meals on Wheels in Davidson County. She loved playing golf and represented North Carolina in the National Senior Olympics. She is survived by a daughter Jan Arledge Harmon (Dicky) of Clemmons; two sons, Evin Arledge, Jr. (Alice) of Raleigh and Robert Edwood Arledge of Arcadia grandchildren, Jackie Harmon Shannon (Philip), Ashley Arledge Williams (Drew), Rachel Arledge, Heather Arledge and Hannah Arledge. Great Grandchildren: Cameron, Sarah Grace and John Williams. A brother, Jim Creech of New Bern. Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church of Welcome, P. O. Box 269, Welcome, NC 27374. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
