Jean Bowman

July 13, 1956 — April 30, 2022

Peggy “Jean” Bowman, 65, of Lexington passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Central Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Purdue officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family will greet friends from 10 am until 11 am prior to the service.

Jean was born in Davidson County on July 13, 1956, to the late Billy Joe and Etta Cross Burkhart. She worked for Lexington City Schools as a school bus driver for several years. Jean was a compassionate person who cared for others and loved to help anyone in need. When she and her husband Barney were able, they spent many miles riding their motorcycle to various places. Jean especially enjoyed traveling to the beach on her and Barney’s trips. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed decorating cakes. Jean attended Central Baptist Church in Lexington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Barney; two infant daughters; a great-nephew, Matthew Craver; a brother, Danny Craver; and her beloved fur-baby, Precious.

Jean is survived by her two sisters, Diane and Judy Burkhart both of Lexington; a brother, David Craver (Tammie) of Lexington; special friend, Nancy Leonard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to be send to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
