Martha Jean Carrick Burkhart, 67, of U.S. Highway 64 East, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at her home.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday, at Fork Baptist Church, where she was an active member, with the Rev. Robert Garrett officiating. The family will not have a formal visitation, however, they will be available at the home.
Mrs. Burkhart was born June 13, 1948, in Davidson County, to Clyde Herman Carrick and Myrtle Dickens Carrick. She had earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University. Mrs. Burkhart was a retired school teacher. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Clyde Carrick.
Surviving are her loving husband of 45 years, Edward Darrell Burkhart Jr. of the home; son, Edward Darrell Burkhart III “Ted” and wife Elizabeth and their daughter, Emerson of Greenville; daughter, Jennifer Burkhart Anthony and husband Tim and their children, Zachary and Zoey Anthony of Lexington; and sisters, Ann Brady and husband Bob, Peggy Troutman and husband Jimmy, and Carole Arnette, all of Lexington.
