Jean Leonard Epley

Shelby Jean Leonard Watkins Epley, 78, of Lexington, met Jesus and her oldest daughter on July 2, 2017.    A graveside service will be held at 2pm Friday, July 7 at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. Dr. Ray Howell III.    The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Friday at Davidson Funeral Home.    Mrs. Epley was born March 12, 1939 in Alamance County to Alvin Lee Leonard, Sr. and Mary Pauline Kernodle Leonard.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Epley, Jr, her daughter, Mary Ruth Watkins, and her brother, Pete Leonard.  She was an incredible lady, a very strong woman and a fantastic mother.  She will be missed by all who loved her.  We lost a part of our heart but heaven gained an angel.    She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Hunt and husband, Randy, of Lexington; her son, Ricky Watkins of Lexington; her daughter, Lynn Vogt and husband, Dr. Michael Vogt of Oviedo, Florida; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105 or to Davidson County Animal Shelter, 490 Glendale Road, Lexington NC 27292.
