Jeannette Coggin McMillan passed away on May 23, 2009 at her residence on Weaver Drive following several years of declining health.
A service of worship and celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, May 26 at First United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM by the Rev. John Ferree and the Rev. Carl Lindquist. Internment at Floral Garden Memorial Park in High Point will follow the service.
Mrs. McMillan was born in Davidson County on October 20, 1919 to James Milas and Sally Bailey Coggin. She graduated valedictorian of her class from Denton High School in 1936 and from Draughan’s Business College in High Point. Mrs. McMillan was a co-founder of Acme Face Veneer Company in 1946 and became president of the company in 1968. A long-time member of First Methodist Church, Mrs. McMillan was an honorary life member of the Administrative Council and a founding and sustaining member of the Lexington Women’s Club.
On November 21, 1941, Mrs. McMillan was married to French L. McMillan, who died on February 22, 1968. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Clarence Coggin and Thayer Coggin and by her sister Mildred Coggin Kennerly, all of High Point.
Survivors include daughter Betty Gregory and her husband, Mike Frick; son, Lewis McMillan and his wife, Nancie McMillan; and a sister Jewell Coggin Petty of High Point.
Grandchildren are Holly McMillan Krueger and her husband, Cary Krueger of Raleigh, Allison McMillan Jesseph, and her husband, Lane Jesseph of Raleigh, French A. McMillan and his wife, Tiffany McMillan, of Birmingham AL, Blythe Taylor John and her husband, Ryan John, of Arden, NC, and Allyson Paige Frick of Raleigh.
Great-grandchildren are Ava Isabell McMillan, Cary Krueger III, Jackson Lewis McMillan, Lola Edith McMillan, Jule Elizabeth McMillan, Sarah Jordan Krueger, Gregory McMillan Jesseph, and Padraig Coggin John.
Mrs. McMillan’s family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and at other times at her residence.
