Jeffrey Scott Torrence

January 14, 1964 — December 4, 2015

On January 4, 1964 God blessed our family with another son, Jeffrey Scott Torrence. He never knew a stranger. Little did we think at that time that God would only loan him to us for a short 51 years. On December 4, 2015 God called him home. He is now in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom he loved with all of his heart, soul and strength and wanted others to love and know Him as well. At the age of six years he accepted Christ as his Savior. In his growing up years he strayed away but found his way back. He could say as this Apostle Paul said in I Corinthians 13:11 “When I was a child, I used to speak as a child, think as a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.”, as he grew in grace and knowledge of our Savior. He was an active member of Hughes Grove Baptist Church in Thomasville, NC. He loved his Pastor and church family very much. Jeffrey also loved his first church family at Reeds Baptist Church in Lexington, where he was a member before moving to Hughes Grove and often spoke of his former Pastor and Sunday school teachers of whom most have gone on to be with Lord. He attended West Davidson High School, and retired from the Davidson County Landfill as a heavy equipment operator. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his father Robert David Torrence, Sr. who passed away on August 2, 2013. His funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, December 7, 2015 at Hughes Grove Baptist Church with The Rev. Dr. John C. Hill, Jr. officiating and interment will be at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel and other times at the home of his mother. Jeffrey leaves behind to cherish his memory one son, Joshua Ryan Torrence; his mother Ruby Torrence; two sisters Brenda Simmons and husband James, Kathy Staten and husband David; one brother David Torrence and wife Donna; his very special companion Buttercup, his puppy and numerous nieces and nephews of Lexington. Memorials may be made to Hughes Grove Baptist Church, 547 Hughes Grove Church Road, P.O. Box 7, Thomasville, NC 27361-007.
