Scott Koonts

Scott Koonts, age 53, of North Augusta, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025.

Born on January 13, 1972, in Davidson County, NC, Scott was raised by his loving grandparents Robert “Bob” and Mary Jo Koonts who loved him like a son and to whom he always referred as Dad and Mom. He was a man who was larger than life and was always up for the next adventure. He embraced life to the fullest as he spent time with his friends, rode motorcycles, and above all, treasured moments shared with his wonderful family. His greatest pride and joy was in being a father to his daughter, Willow, whom he loved with all his heart. He was her hero and best friend.

Along with Bob and Mary Jo, he is preceded in death by his sister, Cynthia Smith, and his grandparents, Jack and Mary Dorsett, and Therman and Beatrice Koonts.

Left to remember his outgoing personality and that laughter that could absolutely fill the room are his wife, Elizabeth Owens Koonts and his own ray of sunshine, his daughter, Willow Mary Jo Koonts. He is also survived by his brother, Danny Koonts (Angie); brother, Robert Koonts Jr. (Raye Ann); and family, Cecilia Beauchamp, Courtney Thrift (Michael), Toby Varner (Soufin), Daniel Koonts (Allie), along with more than 20 nieces and nephews, and many other cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Forest Hill Memorial Park, with a Celebration of Life get-together following the service from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Bull’s City Ciderworks Lexington, 599 S Railroad St. Lexington, NC 27292.

Scott will be remembered for his big-hearted smile, his booming laughter, his ready sense of adventure, his fondness for anything related to Vans, flashlights, motorcycles, or the color orange, and the enthusiasm, energy, and excitement he brought to every life he touched.
