Jeraldine Marie Nifong Scism, age 73, of Lexington, passed away Thursday evening at Forsyth Medical Center, after declining health of 6 months. Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday April 22, at Bethesda United Methodist Church, where she was a member, conducted by Rev. Dennis Marshal. Burial will be in Bethesda United Methodist Cemetery.
The family will see friends following the service in the family life center, of Bethesda United Methodist Church, and other times at the home.
Jeraldine was born in Davidson County on February 17, 1939 to Robert”Buck” Nifong and Mary Leonard Nifong. She was a retired secretary for Piedmont Air Line, later U.S. Airways. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Tina Marie Scism, and brother, Wayne Nifong.
Surviving are: her husband of 46 years Dan Scism of the home; son, Chris Scism and wife Meredith of Lexington; three brothers, George Nifong, Terry Nifong, and Archie Nifong and wife Betty Gail all of Lexington; sisters, Gay Nell Brown and husband Buford, and Carol Mason and husband Ron all of Lexington; three grandchildren, Tanner, Conner, and Walker Scism and sister-in-law Jennie Nifong of Lexington.
