Jerry Wayne Akers, 63, of Davidson County, passed away Friday, April 18, 2025, at Select Medical in Greensboro.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 AM, Friday, April 25, 2025, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, prior to the graveside service which will be held at 11:00 AM, at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Jerry was born on December 22, 1961, in Galax, Virginia, to the late Frank McKinley Akers and Evangeline Kirby Akers.
He loved playing the drums and found joy in working outdoors, especially when doing yard work. A true animal lover, he had a special affection for horses, with his favorite being a beloved horse named Granny. Whether it was the calming waves of the beach or the peaceful beauty of the mountains, he cherished both settings dearly. He is fondly remembered for his great sense of humor, gentle nature, and kind spirit, all of which left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Eddy, Donald, and Dallas Akers, and nephew, Adam Akers.
Those who are left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Gary Akers, of Linwood, and Terry Akers (Jennifer), of Virgina; sister, Brenda Ballew (Petey), of Lexington; nephews, Jonathan Akers (Adrianne), Amos Akers, and Andy Akers; niece, Amanda Martin; and his great nephews and nieces, along with extended family and friends.
