Jerry Cecil

June 22, 1947 — October 7, 2019

Jerry Wayne Cecil, 72, of Cecil Road, Welcome passed away Monday, October 7 at his home after fighting lung cancer for a year.

A funeral service will be held 12pm Thursday, October 10th at his home on Cecil Road by the Rev. David Langley. Burial will follow at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at his home.

Mr. Cecil was born June 22, 1947 in Davidson County to John Robert Cecil and Ruth Thomason Cecil. He retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco after thirty years of service. He loved his daughters, granddaughters and his great granddaughters. His wife, Phyllis Boyd Cecil; his son in law, Gary Albani; his brothers, Clinton “Pean” Cecil and Joe Ray Cecil; and his sister, Judy Johnson, preceded him in death.

Surviving are daughters, Angela Cecil of Welcome and Susan Cecil Berrier of Punta Gorda, Florida; his granddaughters, Brittany Berrier and Ally Sidden (Rocky); great-grandchildren, Brynnlee, Ella and Skylar Sidden; his sisters, Brenda Miller (Jerry) and Rita Wood (Van), both of Welcome; and fourteen nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Compassion Inspiring Action, 177 Dorsett Road, Lexington NC 27292.

A special thanks goes to the staff of Hospice of Davidson County, the Staff of Derek Davis, the Cancer Center of Winston Salem; Advanced Home Care of Winston Salem, and many friends, family, and total strangers who have shown our Dad love and support during this cancer journey.
