Jerry Miller

Jerry Defoy Miller, 83, of Davidson County, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 3:00 PM, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with Rev. Alex Nance officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 PM prior to the service, at the funeral home.

A committal service will immediately follow the funeral at New Friendship United Church of Christ, 307 Turner Rd. Lexington, NC 27292.

Jerry was born on September 7, 1940, in Davidson County, to the late Carl Defoy Miller and Hazel Wagner Miller. He served his country in the US Army and later went on to work for Duracell and retired after 43 years. Jerry loved to hunt and attend the stock sale on Tuesdays, rain or shine, always looking for a bargain.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years, Brenda Decker Miller, of the home; sons, Barry (Kimberly) Miller and Brent Miller; sister, Virginia Everhart; brother-in-law, Rodney Decker; and grandchildren, Brandon (Mackenzie Wolf), Ashley (fiancé Tyler Swicegood), Logan Ledford, and Christopher Murphy; and his beloved 27-year-old African Grey Parrot, Ray.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers of Liberty Hospice of Thomasville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to New Friendship United Church of Christ.
