MOUNT CARMEL, Tenn. | Jerry Waitsel Stiles, 67, of Brooketon Drive and formerly of the Erlanger community, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2007, in Wellmont Hospice Home in Bristol, Tenn.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Rev. Fred Carlton. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Stiles was born in Gaston County on Feb. 19, 1940, to Wilfred Waitsel Stiles and Grace Bradshaw Stiles. He graduated from Tide Water Community College in Portsmouth, Va., and was employed with the Federal Aviation Administration as an electronics technician before retiring. He also served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Mount Carmel, Tenn.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Young Stiles of the home; a son, Bryan Waitsel Stiles and his wife, Bangyan, of La Crescenta, Calif.; a daughter, Amanda C. Howell and her husband, Stacy, of Buford, Ga.; grandchildren Joseph Waitsel Stiles, Eileen Stiles, Kasey Howell and Garrett Howell; and his sister, Carol Ann Stiles Wilson and her husband, Dale, of Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and at other times at the home of his sister, Carol Wilson, 534 Foxcroft Drive, Lexington.
