Jerry Wayne Howell

April 26, 1941 — July 16, 2024

Retired Captain Jerry Wayne Howell, age 83, formerly of High Rock Lake, passed away on July 16, 2024, at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living.

A funeral service with Lexington Police Department Honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 18th, in the Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel, with Jimmy Truell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service.

Jerry was born on April 26, 1941, in Davidson County to Robert Clyde and Ethel Caudle Howell. He served as a police officer for 26 years with the Lexington Police Department and attended Community Church. Jerry also proudly served his country from 1966-1968 in the United States Army as a military police officer. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed coastal fishing trips. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Howell; and sisters, Grace Christley, Charlotte Cox, and Ann Byerly.

Surviving are wife, Jean McCarn Howell of 62 years, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank the Riverview Road High Rock Lake neighbors for their care and support, as well as Mallard Ridge Assisted Living facility, and Hospice of Davidson County for the care provided to Jerry.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Davidson County Meals on Wheels, 104 E. Center Street, Lexington, NC 27292.
