Jerry Thomas Wooten, 80, of Lexington, passed away July 24, 2024, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.
A celebration of his life will be held 4:00 pm Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Tyro Methodist Church where he was a member, with Rev. Randy Foster and Dr. Paul Perkins officiating. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Saturday night at Davidson Funeral Home. Following the service the family will have refreshments in the fellowship hall of the church.
Mr. Wooten was born June 9, 1944, in Yadkin County, to James Thomas Wooten and Lillie Belle Groce Wooten. Jerry was a devoted member of the church and the church family. He was retired from the Davidson County School System. He was a member of the Welcome Civitan Club, American Rose Society, and the Winston Salem Rose Society. Jerry was a diehard New York Yankee fan, and loved to go coon hunting. His passion was his faith, church, family, and especially his four grandsons and three great grandchildren. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who will be missed by all.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Margaret Elizabeth Mitchum Wooten of the home, son, Scotty Roach, daughter, Kathryn Wilmer husband Ceil, all of Lexington, and his special family, the Lohr family.
