Jesse Gray Lanning, 60, of Wilson Road, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009, at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a dedicated and faithful member, by Preacher Clyde Akers. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Lanning was born November 20, 1948, in Davidson County, to Robert Kyle Lanning and Ruth Chandler Lanning. He was a retired maintenance mechanic at PPG. At his church he took a large part in the bus ministry and prepared food for the bus children every week. He will be very missed by the people he took to church on the bus every week and especially all of the children that he loved very much. He was a very humble and loving person that was always willing to do for many friends and family members. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean Lanning; and a brother, Harold Ray Lanning.
Surviving are his mother of Lexington; a daughter, Julie Shalia Wood of Lexington; and brothers, Kyle “Jeffery” Lanning and wife, Teresa, of Churchland.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Davidson Funeral Home, and other times at the home of the brother, 7863 S. NC Highway 150.
