Jesse Taylor Tilley Jr.

Jesse Taylor Tilley Jr., 86 of North Leonard Road, Welcome died Tuesday afternoon at Carolina House in Chapel Hill after seven months of declining health. Mr. Tilley was born February 6, 1921 in Stokes County to Jesse Taylor Tilley Sr. and Myrtle Leah Nunn Tilley. He was retired from Western Electric as a computer systems analyst. Mr. Tilley was a member of Center United Methodist Church in Welcome where he served as a past Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and a former financial secretary. Mr. Tilley was a veteran of WWII having served in The US Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater, where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He is preceded in death by his wife Gertrude Leonard Tilley and brothers T. Gray Tilley and John J. Tilley. Surviving are his son Scott Tilley and wife Susan Dunn Tilley of Durham, and a brother James Alton Tilley of Greensboro. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Friday, February 16, 2007 at Center United Methodist Church with Rev. Clay Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Center United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home – Hickory Tree Chapel.
