Jessie Lee Buchanan

Jessie Lee Buchanan, 68, of Charlotte Drive, died Friday, August 17, 2012, at the home of his son on Devonshire Drive. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home with Preacher Clyde Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park, with military honors by VFW Post 3074. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2012, at the funeral home and other times at the home of his son of Devonshire Drive. Mr. Buchanan was born August 13, 1944, in Jackson County, to Memphis Emanuel Buchanan and Mary Ellen Cowan Buchanan. He was a retired postal carrier and had served in the U.S. Air Force with the Red Horse engineers. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3074; member of Amvets and American Legion. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Clinton Memphis Buchanan, Ernest Guy Buchanan, Oscar Craten Buchanan, Herman Lucius Buchanan and Emanuel Aurthur Buchanan; and sister, Joyce Alora Boone. Surviving are sons, Ronald Dale Buchanan, William Calvin Buchanan, and Donald Wayne Buchanan, all of Lexington; grandchildren, Maston Lee, Joshua Hunter, Amber Dawn, and Jacob Ryan; his loving companion of 16 years, Pheba Hall; step grandchildren, Jerry, Jaden, Jennifer and Cody; brothers, Kenneth Buchanan and wife Mildred, Carl Buchanan and wife Sandra, all of Lexington; sisters including his twin sister, Bessie Stroud and husband Kenneth of Lexington and Annie Lou Wiggins of McAdenville; and Sidney Hall and wife Dena.
