Jessie Boyd Leonard, 85, of Academy Drive, died Monday, June 29, at his home after declining health.
The funeral will be 2 pm Wednesday at Pilgrim Reformed Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Richard Moore. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home.
Mr. Leonard was born October 20, 1929 in Davidson County, to Robert Lee Leonard, Sr. and Pearl Craver Leonard. He was a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Leonard retired from McLean Trucking in Winston Salem and later worked at Coble Dairy. His wife, Dorothy Hege Leonard, preceded him in death, as well as his brothers, Robert L. Leonard, Jr. and Herman Leonard, and his sisters, Ruby Essick and Mae Smith.
Surviving are his son, Reginald Boyd Leonard of the home; his daughter, Shelia Ward and husband Charlie of Lexington; grandson, Kevin Byerly (Rhonda); great-grandson, Noah Byerly; step-granddaughter, Monika Priddy and husband Patrick; and step-great-grandchildren, Journey and Jaxon Priddy; his brothers, Jack Leonard (Gaynell) and Dean Leonard (Phyllis) both of Lexington; and his sisters, Lois Weaver and Pauline Weaver, both of Lexington.
