Jewel Walser Dorsett

Mrs. Jewel Dean Walser Dorsett, 94, of Dykers Creek Road, died Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Hinkle Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday December 15, 2018 at Friendship United Methodist Church where she was a member conducted by Rev. David Peeler and burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Dorsett was born January 29, 1924 in Davidson County to Robert Grady Walser and Elsie Myers Walser. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Elwood Dorsett; A granddaughter, Anna Lewis Dorsett, a great grandson, Todd Goetaski.  Her brothers, Allen Walser, Ronald Walser, Jerry Walser, and Dale Walser; and her sisters, Doris Harrelson,  Betty Lumsden and Peggy Walser.  She retired from Dixie Furniture and served in many capacities at her church as a member of the choir and Methodist Women. She baby sat for many children who called her Grandma.

She is survived by her sons, Ken Dorsett  (Ronda) of Churchland, and Michael Dorsett of Lexington; her daughters, Georgeanna Crotts (Clyde) and Kaye Cartrette, both of Lexington; her brother, Lindsay Walser (Bonnie) of Lexington  ;Her grandchildren, Wendy, Tammy, Deana(Todd), Andrea (Rick), Allison (Matt), Shae, Brandy (Levi) and Tiffany (Adam), Chris (Glynus), Robbie (Brittany), Cody  and Eric.   Nineteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.  Special friends, J. E Essick and Shelby Forrest.
