Jewell Mccrary Mcdade

Charlotte ‘Jewell’ McCrary McDade, age 86, of Lexington, NC, passed away on January 19, 2023, at River Landing in Colfax surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Monday, January 23 ^rd at Center United Methodist Church with Pastors Mitch Wilson and Clay Morgan officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation with family and friends will be held from 12:30pm until 2:00pm at the church prior to the service.

Jewell was born in Davidson County, NC on April 9, 1936, to Cyrus Cicero McCrary and Selma Wagner McCrary.  She was retired from the business office of DCCC.  Jewell was very active and served as President of Business Professional Women of NC as well as President of Democratic Women of Davidson County.  She was a member of Center United Methodist Church and was 2011 Center UMC Woman of the Year.  She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and friend and she gave joyfully with her whole heart to anyone in need.  Jewell was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Thomas McDade, Sr. in 2013; brothers, Charles Leo McCrary, Billy Joe McCrary and wife Sarah, Claude McCrary and wife Nancy, James ‘JB’ McCrary and wife Zelma and sister Ida Lucille McCrary.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Carroll Thomas ‘Tommy’ McDade Jr.; daughters, Cathy McDade Horton (Owen ‘T’), Kim McDade Pitts (Eddie); 11 grandchildren, Megan Brown (James), Allyson Parks, Hannah Bower (Mike), Taylor McDade (Kristi), Cy Horton (Kristina), Joshua Parks (Mikla), Katy Parker (Dave), Jessica McDade, Rachel McDade, Johnathon Pitts (Paige), Jennifer Hanapole; 14 great-grandchildren, Sarah Ann McDade (Ben), Kateland McDade (Seth), Camden Burnette (Gisel), Isabelle Bower, Gavyn Williams, Mia McDade, Mason Hanapole, Emily Brown, Natalie Brown, Lily Brown, Amelia Parker, Luna Parker, Carl Pitts, Luke Pitts; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Charleigh Thompson and Kingston Passmore.  Her over 50 nieces and nephews held a very special place in her heart.

Jewell was the matriarch of her family, a true Jewel.
