Jewel Metters Parks, 88, formerly of N. County Home Road, died Saturday October 4, 2014 at Lexington Health Care in Lexington.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel, with Revs. Tommy Robertson and Tim Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00pm Monday at Davidson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Parks was born October 30, 1925 in Guilford County to John Metters and Mary Swing Metters. She was a charter member of St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Clay Parks, her brothers, David, Frank, and Jack Thomas Metters and her sisters, Peggy Parks and Ernestine Cozart.
Surviving is a son, Darrell Clay Parks and wife, Brenda Frank Parks, of Denton; a daughter, Rhonda Mize and husband, Dennis, of Lexington; a brother, Paul Metters and wife, Mary Catherine, of Jacksonville North Carolina; a sister Blanche Broadway and husband, James, of Oak Island North Carolina; grandchildren, Natalie Strickland and husband, Jay, Holly Whitten and husband, Dustin, Megan Brown, and husband, Steve, and Anson Mize and wife, Ashley, and great-grandchildren, Emma Strickland, Abigail Whitten, Addison Whitten, Jacob Brown, Nolan Brown, Ansley Mize, and Caleb Fagan.
