Jim Davis

James Frederick Davis, 78, of Broadview Ave, died Sunday, March 3 at his home.    A memorial service will be held at 4pm Thursday, March 7 at Greer’s Chapel United Methodist Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Charles Lindquist.    The family will receive friends following the service.    Mr. Davis was born October 3, 1940 in Richmond County to Jefferson Davis and Bertha Watkins Davis.  He retired from Duracell and later worked for Filtrona of Greensboro .  His wife, Nettie Yvonne Browning Davis, his daughter, Dawn Yvonne Calhoun, his brother, William “Sonny” Davis, and his sister, Jean Myers, preceded him in death.    He is survived by his granddaughters, Sophia Calhoun of Cullowhee and Sunny Calhoun of Winston Salem.    In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Greer’s Chapel UMC, 8195 Old Salibury Road, Linwood NC 27299.
