April 10, 1951 — March 13, 2017

Jim Robert Jones, age 65, of Lexington formerly of Florence, Alabama passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center.   The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service, followed by burial, will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 2:00pm at Greenview Memorial Chapel in Florence, AL., officiated by Pastor Wayne Wood. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.   Jim was born April 10, 1951 in Florence, AL to Robert Houston Jones and Hazel Inez Young Jones. He was of the Church of Christ faith and retired from R. J. Reynolds of Winston Salem after 25 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father, and loving grandfather to whom his grandchildren affectionately called “JimPaw”. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, spending time on the lake with family and driving his newly restored ’66 Chevelle. He volunteered at the Southmont Food Pantry and was on the Board of Directors at Southmont Fire Dept.   He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Jones Olive.   He is survived by his loving wife Kathy Cossey Jones of the home; daughters, Amy Dianne Whicker (Ladd) of Winston-Salem and Ashley Jones Scott (Brandon) of Kenly, NC; grandchildren, Landon, Morgan, Emma and Seth; and sister, Bobbie Jones of Florence, AL.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Cancer Research Institute, One Exchange Plaza, 55 Broadway, Suite 1802, New York, NY 10006 or online at www.cancerresearch.org.   Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel and Greenview Memorial Funeral Home are assisting the family.
