James Watts ( Jim) Kearns, age 66 of Marvin Hedrick Road, Lexington, (Southmont Community) died suddenly Saturday, November 22 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 26 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Randy Blanton. Inurnment will follow at a later date. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of the son, 6319 NC Hwy # 8, Lexington, NC Mr. Kearns was born May 6, 1948 in Virginia to Charles Ellington Kearns and Wilma Watts Kearns. He was a graduate of North Davidson High School and Gaston Technical College. He was a retired supervisor with Binnings Building Products. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church and had attended Macedonia United Methodist Church .He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting squirrels and fishing. He loved his family and his hunting dogs. He was known for his fast pitching soft ball until he was 53 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents and his In-Laws, Paul and Naomi Owen. Mr. Kearns is survived by his wife, Jane Owen Kearns of the home; a son, Michael Kearns of Lexington; a daughter Ann Kearns Schaefer and husband Ronny of Lexington; a grandson Owen Schaefer; brothers Tom Kearns and wife Pam of Lexington and Allen Kearns of Clemmons; nephew Ryan Kearns and wife Rebecca of Clemmons; niece Traci Kearns of Asheville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macedonia United Methodist Church, PO Box 190, Southmont, NC 27351, or Hunter Education Program, c/o NC Wildlife Resource Commission ( NCWRC), 1702 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699 or to the charity of the Donors choice.
